Roundup Day 9

A short entry today as Team 2 arrived to be shown the ropes and either a) show Team 1 how to do it properly or b) steal Team 1's best ideas and pass them off as their own over the next 10 days!

First of all thank you to Team 1 for the welcome and the much appreciated meal and in particular to Chris who picked us up from Kirkeness airport.

The day's ringing was split into two halves with some net replacement and orientation in the morning and two sites of wader catching in the evening.

The morning session kicked off nicely with a good number of bluethroats and willow warblers and another nice welcome present of a lapland bunting, red throated pippet, and an arctic redpoll. There was then a period of sleep / shopping / an improptu quiz on match the bird egg to the Norwegian bird name - an excellent way to learn any language. The evening saw us split into two groups for some wader catching which netted a total of around 85 new birds including a curlew sandpiper.
